the semester slump

I am in an end-of-the-semester slump.

The strange part?  I am actually starting to enjoy my classes.  [You know, minus all the stress and whatnot.]

But I am encountering an all-too-familiar problem in the form of sleep deprivation.

Every morning, my alarm goes off.

Every morning, I reset it for 10 minutes later.

Every morning, I reset it again for 10 minutes later.

2,346 times.

At the beginning of the semester, I was always perfectly on time.  Then mid-semester hit and I was two or three minutes late every day.

Now I'm lucky if I make it at all.

And if I do make it, you'll probably see me strolling in about 30 minutes late or so.  [But give me a break, my classes are all 3 hours long this semester.]

Does this happen to anyone else?

And now I have a completely unrelated question:

For anyone who has ever had to change their name...was it as daunting a process as I'm making it out to be?  I haven't even tried, because I read about what I have to do online and get way too intimidated.  So...I'm still using my maiden name.  But I would really like to be using my married name.

Any helpful tips?

Go to the social security office early on and it's less of a wait ;) And if you want them to send your new card to you or your parents make sure it's in the name of the person that owns the mailbox. When I changed mine, I had them send it to my parents so the apartment wouldn't lose it, but it was in my married name and Ali Mills didn't exist at the parentals place so we went back and just had to put it in "care of: parental's names" and then I finally got it! Only 6 months later hahahaha ;)

The DMVis WAY easier but remember that they take your picture when you change something, cuz I didn't know that was gonna happen and my pic looks awful!

I did mine all through the mail, you can print it out online and mail all the paperwork in, I got mine back within 2 weeks! It was easy!

Just do it! I was intimidated by the name change process too, but it actually wasn't bad at all, and once I was done my life became way easier b/c I didn't have to remember which name to use for which occasion. I concur w/ the person who said go to the social security office early. I didn't have to wait long at all. Going to the DMV was a bit of a pain, but tolerable.

And I definitely feel ya on the school situation. I am so burned out. Graduation cannot come fast enough!

Oh man... I always, ALWAYS hit the mid-semester slump and start showing up late. Same with you starts with 2-3 minutes late and then ends up being a good 20-30 minutes late, never fails hah

As for changing my name, I did it right away, mostly because of the whole military-I-really-want-health-insurance thing, but it actually wasn't all that bad. Make sure to go to the Social Security Office early but not as soon as they open, but before lunch - people always go there before doors open and during their lunch, but never in between. Does that make any sense?
After doing that driver's license should be super easy. Oh! and make sure to have a copy or your actual marriage license :)

I'm kinda of a brat. I still haven't changed my last name. I know it sounds silly, but I'm not ready to yet. I know I will though!!! Haha but it's super easy, I hear. Just go to the social security office in Pheonix. Jessica McRae said it took ten minutes! What's worse is i go to school downtown and I'm there every day

Changing my last name seemed like it would be a daunting process but it really wasn't bad at all. It did take me about eight months to finally get around to doing it all. Haha. Oh well though! And I'm totally hitting the end-of-the-semester slump too! BLAH!

I definitely know about that morning routine and all of my classes are three hours long too, except that I get an absence if I am late to any of them (dumb). I can't wait for the semester to be over. Changing your last name is only annoying, but not really difficult. You just go through the DMV and the Social Security office. After that it's really just sending people copies of or showing them your marriage license and new driver's license to change it (at ASU for instance). It was annoying to do it all, but now it's done so yay! You can do it!
